Our knives are made of carbon steel, which requires a characteristic care.
If you take care of the knife according to our advice, it will serve you well and for a long time.
At the beginning of the use the carbon steel initially tends to oxidize more until its natural protective layer forms on the blade.
Even with a routine care, signs of rust may appear on the knife surface. There is no need to worry about anything, it is a surface corrosion that can be easily removed as follows:
Wash the blade with the rougher side of a kitchen sponge using detergent in hot water, dry it and rub it thoroughly with cooking oil.
This process may need to be repeated several times from the beginning until the desired protective film is formed, which slows down and stops the oxidation process.
For routine maintenance, just follow a few rules:
Always slice with the knife on a wooden board.
Do not use the knife to cut frozen food or bones.
Do not put the knife in a dishwasher or do not wash it in hot water.
After washing always dry the knife.
Once in a while, grease the knife blade with cooking oil.
Do not forget the quality and regular sharpening of the blade.
The knife can be sharpened on tools designed for this purpose – from quality sharpeners to grinding stones.
To maintain sharpness, we recommend stropping the knife regularly on the leather razor strop.
If you are not sure about grinding, entrust the knife to professionals or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
